vNes Symbian 1.6 beta for S60 3rd version phones Release

Updated information:
1. Bluetooth Multiplay supported
2. Rom directory changed:
(1) If you install vNes on phone memory, you can put your roms into the directory "\Others\vNes"(in fact, it is "\data\Others\vNes",but only "data" directory is visible in phone memory if you use file manager of Nokia)
(2) If you install vNes on memory card, you can put your roms into the directory "\data\Others\vNes"

3. Subdirectory supported
You can make new subdirectories in the rom directory. It can be recognized when you play.

It is a beta version now. We test it on Nokia E60 & Nokia E61. And we hope to receive feedbacks of other S60 3rd version phones. You will be greatly appreciated for any feedback. Thanks in advance.

Because there are many limits for the programs which are not certified in S60 3rd version phones, this beta version does not have the following functions:

1. Bluetooth Multiplay
2. Automatically recognize roms which are sent by bluetooth or infrared. You must put your roms into the directory "Others\vNes" directly. You can do this by card-reader or USB.

We say sorry for that. We will try our best to seek a method to solve them.

Note:

You may need to do the following steps in order to allow your phone to install vNes:

1) Open Application Manager
2) Choose Options-> Settings
3) Switch Software installation to *All* (not Certified only)
This will allow you to install non-certified applications.

I'm having problems getting Tecmo Super Bowl to work properly on the E61 with an activated s60v3 beta version of vNES.

I can load the game, do selected things (e.g., play preseason games but only with coa-to-com and only with the teams on the far right), but can't get most things to respond/work. For instance I can't actually play a regular season game, etc.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a list of games that are known to work/not-work with vNES?

Tested on my n91 just now, sound and speed are perfect on all games i tried, but would prefer to have the option for landscape play as well as portrait as gfx look squashed.

i have a nokia n93 v11.0.034 apac, i have this emulator and i say that for example in super mario bros 3 when you jump to left o jump to right error mario not jump if you jump ,jump, but if you do jump+right or jump+left , error action bad ,you must press button jump and after press jostick to left for example and this is not normally, the normally is jump+left or jump+right and this error is in all games is a big bug ,i dont buy this product if this bug exist please REVISION . In other versions emulator was are good

Vnes didn't run on my Nokia N91 with the newest firmware : V 2.00.052 07/25/06 RM43 N91(14.01). I'll wait to have a newest version. Thanks for this release.

Dunno what that guy above me just said but it sounds like he may be having the same problem as me. I'm running on an N93 and it doesn't work when you press more than one key at once. Doesn't crash, just doesn't respond to one of the keys.

Also there's a problem whereas you can't put ROMs into the required folder when you install it onto the phone memory because the folder doesn't show up. The phone doesn't come with a memory card and until I get hold of one on saturday I can't use it unless I borrow my mates card. If you could get it to scan the whole memory for compatible ROMs that would be pretty handy.

Last thing, when you rotate the screen to widescreen while running a game you're required to leave the game and start it again though that's not soo much of an issue as you can still change the screen while you're just in the menu bit and it's fine if you remember to do it beforehand.

I installed the Beta lastnight on my Nokia E61 Tested out Paperboy and Skate or Die 2. Both games ran fine with sound. If I purchase does that mean I can unlock this beta?

Installed Beta. Purchased. Works fine on E61. Tried with marioz only. But looks great. I hope the E61 joystick will hold up! HOPing for the next beta for easier install of games to folders via inbox etc.

having just upgraded my nokia n91 to the newest firmware (v2.00.052) only the file browser of vnes works. i don not believe this to be vampents problem but nokias as several other programs no longer work after updating and vnes was working perfectly before the update on my n91. n91 users dont upgrade, or if u already have you must wait like me for nokia to realise the problem and fix the firmware
